TANEYTOWN LIONS BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
MEETING MINUTES
December 17, 2007

Present:    Jeff Bruchey, Sherri Lewelling, Danny Lewelling, Brent Greenup, Jeff Engel, Dan McMahon, Perry Jones, Larry Haines,
                  Derrick Miller, Albert Angell Jr, Teresa Angell, Tim Copenhaver, Michael Stoner, Wendell White, Chris Smith, Mike Petry,
                  John Gill

Jeff Bruchey called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

OLD BUSINESS: 

  1. Minutes from November 13th, 2007 were reviewed.  Derrick motioned to accept and Jeff Engel seconded the motion.  Unanimous approved.
  1. Financial Report – The balance in checking account is $1,526.27.  Check from Lions for $1,500 received from Larry Haines, will be deposited.  New balance will be $3,026.27.  Jeff Engel made a motion to approve financial report and Dan seconded the motion.  Unanimous approval.
  1. Dugouts – Almost complete.  Steel doors haven’t been installed yet.  Requesting to have the dugouts painted before start of the season.  Plaques need to be ordered for the dedication of the 2 Lions Club members and town council.  Suggested having green paint for blocks and yellow on the wood.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know.
  1. Basket Bingo – Date/Location still hasn’t been decided.
  1. Open Board Positions: President and Player Agent positions open.
    1. 2 Meetings that the President needs to attend is the Athletics Association and the Mason Dixon meetings.  Sherri will be attending the Mason Dixon meetings.
  1. The monthly meetings have been re-scheduled for the 2nd Monday of each month  at 7pm at the Senior Center beginning in January.
  1. Equipment will not be relocated to the storage facility until the steel doors have been installed. 
  1. Registration Flyers:  The flyers will be distributed to the schools this week and hopefully handed out to the students after the Christmas vacation.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. M.A.B.A. – Brent attended the meeting recently.  If a 12 year old team will be doing a Sunday only league, a decision needs to be made and a check needs to be submitted.  They will play 8-9 weeks and have some double headers on Sunday.  Brent made a motion to register 12/under into Sunday only M.A.B.A. league with Jeff Bruchey as manager.  Dan McMahon seconded.  Unanimous approval.
  1. Discussion of whether to have an M.A.B.A. 13/14 team.  We can have two 13/14 team in South Adams League.  Another option to have a Sunday only M.A.B.A. 13/14 year old team.  Recruitment will have to be done for these teams and a manager needs to be found.  Brent nominated John Gill to manage 13/14 M.A.B.A. Sunday only team.  Jeff E. seconded.  Unanimous approval.  If there are not enough players to field an M.A.B.A. team, then recruitment will be needed.  Registration for 13/14 MABA is $550.00.  Brent, Jeff B, and John Gill will need to meet to discuss registration costs for the MABA teams, and then send out through e-mails for votes.
  1. Discussion of 9/10 year old Sunday only with Tim as manager.  Brett motioned and Jeff Engel seconded.  Majority approved.
  1. Softball tournament team for older girls will stay the same as last year.
  1. M.A.B.A. league for 16-18 year will not be having a league.
  1. Jason Green is not allowed and does not have permission to use the baseball fields.  He needs to call Bob Mitchell.
  1. Basket Bingo – location?  Dan to call Sheila.

 The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.  Jeff Engel nominated and Brent seconded. The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 14th, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Taneytown Senior Center.
