TANEYTOWN LIONS BASEBALL & SOFTBALL MEETING MINUTES

  January 14, 2008

Present:          Jeff Bruchey, Sherri Lewelling, Jeffrey Aaron, John Rill, Jeff Engel, Dan McMahon, Perry Jones, Derrick Miller, Albert Angell Jr, Teresa Angell, Tim Copenhaver, Wendell White, Sheila Rosas, Mike Petry, Matt Watkins, Angie Pickett, Randy Bowers

 

Jeff Bruchey called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

  1. Minutes from December 17, 2007 were reviewed.  Correction: No league 16-18 for M.A.B.A, not Reisterstown (error stated).  Sheila motioned to accept and Dan McMahon seconded the motion.  Unanimous approved.

 

  1. Financial Report – The balance in checking account is $3,882.44. Registration – 1st day – $3,020.00 plus $20.00 apparel.  Jeff Engel made a motion to approve financial report and Dan seconded the motion.  Unanimous approval.

 

  1. Dugouts – Steel doors and locks are on dugouts.  Inside is painted white.  Hold on to equipment until shelves are installed.

 

  1. Basket Bingo – March 1st, 7pm at American Legion.  Tickets are available for everyone to sell.  See Sheila.

 

  1. Reminder of meeting change: The monthly meetings have been re-scheduled to the 2nd Monday of each month, 7pm at the Senior Center.

 

  1. Equipment will not be relocated to the storage facility until the steel doors have been installed. 

 

  1. Registration Flyers: Runnymede Elementary handed out flyers last week and Taneytown Elementary has the flyers at the front of the school.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

  1. Website: taneytownbaseballandsoftball.org.

 

  1. 1st Registration was held on Saturday, January 12th with 42 kids $2,880.00 plus $20 apparel.  Two more weekends for registration, January 19th and January 26th.

 

  1. Basket Bingo: We will serve food. Suggestions: Hot dogs, nachos and cheese, BBQ, and soup.  Pizza too expensive.  Ingredients for bake goods must be posted.  Can sodas and ice machine available for use.  Derrick will provide chips.  Help needed for setup at 4pm.  Bingo machine will be delivered between 4:30-5:00pm.  We may need to have a bingo caller. 

 

  1. The Sponsor letter for Basket Bingo and Golf Tournament (fall 2008) is ready and will be mailed out.  Also, the letter for Banner Sponsorship and agreement.

 

  1. Need to set a date for Pizza Fundraiser, Pictures and Pitch, Hit, & Run.  Suggested May 3rd for pickup date for Pizza Fundraiser.  The handouts for all fundraiser information will be at the parent meetings.  Suggested April 12th with rain date of April 19th for the Pitch, Hit, and Run and Pictures.

 

  1. A parent contacted the league regarding a program called Rmilitarykids.  The program works by the parent registering the kids and then submits a form to the organization, and our league will receive the money from the Rmilitarykids organization at a later date.  Approved.

 

  1. Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser will be February 5th.  We are working with No Anchovies for a similar fundraiser.  Discussions of Partylite Fundraiser for Softball Tournament Team.  Sherri will handle.

 

  1. Discussion of Subs Fundraiser maybe at the end of the season with a goal to raise money for new scoreboards.  The subs can be delivered if there are a certain amount of subs sold.  Will need to decide an order date and pickup date. 

 

  1. Apparel – we will only have one order place this year because we have plenty on hand.  We need to have certain amount to place pre-order, with only having one pre-order for the season.

 

  1. Sherri presented Minutes from Mason-Dixon: Mason-Dixon is looking into being incorporated.  There are two board member positions open, VP and Director of Baseball.  Next meeting will be on January 17th, 2008.  Emmittsburg may pull out and go to South Adams.

 

  1. Tryout dates for Mustang/Bronco suggested around February 9th/10th and 16th/17th at New Windsor Barn.  Jeff Engel will check into and provide dates ASAP.  We should have the teams established by the date of Basket Bingo, March 1st.

 

  1. Field Maintenance:  All fields  every Saturday of March(8th, 15th, and 22nd)

 

  1. Baseball Dance to be discussed at next meeting – suggestion for April 5th.

 

  1. Manager’s resumes need to be handed in next month.

 

           

The meeting was adjourned at 8:14pm.  Jeff Engel nominated and Sherri seconded. The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 11th, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Taneytown Senior Center.
